SCOUTING IN YEMEN

YEMEN SCOUT ASSOCIATION

Scouting was founded in 1954 and membership in the World Bureau (WOSM) was in 1980. Membership in 1998 was 6,481 Scouts.

Yemen Scouts participate in the normal Scouting activities. In addition, they are involved in reforestation, literacy campaigns, and service to hospitals. Scout has planted thousands of trees in this barren country and have learned modern ways to identify and treat plant diseases with the goal of increasing agricultural production.

Scouts are involved in the rural areas by showing the community how to make safe drinking water and water filters out of common materials.

Scouts have participated in helping during natural disasters.

Program Sections:

 Cubs- ages 7 to 10

 Scouts- ages 11 to 14

 Senior Scouts- ages 15 to 18

 Rovers- ages 19 to 23
