SCOUTING IN TANZANIA
TANZANIA SCOUTS ASSOCIATION
Scouting was founded in Tanzania in 1929 and was recognized by the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1963. Membership on January 1, 1998 was 40,809 registered Scouts.
The aim of Scouting in Tanzania is to develop the of the family and self-reliance.
The program emphasizes learning by doing, community development and nature conservation particularly in rural areas.
The badge system is entirely adapted to the interests and needs of Tanzanian Scouts.
Cubs- ages 7 to 12
Scouts-ages 13 to 17
Senior Scouts- ages 18 to 21
Rovers ages 22 to 35
