SCOUTING IN SYRIA

Scouting was founded in Syria in 1913 and was recognized by the World Bureau in 1924. Cirrent membership is reported to be 11,073 registered Scouts on January 1, 1998.

The Scout Association is open to all boys of all religions. They have their own training center.

Service projects include planting trees, clean up campaigns, development projects, fire fighting and literacy campaigns.

Syria is active in regional Scout activities.

Program Sections:

 Cubs- ages 6 to 11

 Scouts- ages 11 to 16

 Seniors- ages 16 to 18

 Rovers- ages 18 and older

On my honour I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times and to obey the Scout Law.
