SCOUTING IN SLOVAKIA

SLOVAKIAN SCOUTING ORGANIZATION

Scouting in Slovakia goes back to 1912, when it was a part of Czechoslovakia. Scouting ceased to exist as a result of German Nazi occupation in 1940.

In Nov. 1989, Scouting again was re-established and in 1990, was recognized by WOSM. 

In 1993, the country of Czechoslovakia ceased to exist by mutual agreement. The country was split into two parts: The Czech Republic and The Republic of Slovakia.

A new Scouting Association was formed and is active today. There are over 4,510 registered members as of January 1, 1998. Slovakia was recognized by the World Bureau in 1997.

Program Sections:

 Cubs / Brownies- ages 6 to 11

 Scouts / Guides- ages 11 to 16

 Rovers- ages 16 to 25

 Scout Motto:

Cubs/ Brownies: Be Better

Guides / Scouts: …..Bud Pripavany…..Be prepared

Rovers: Serve

Brownies / Cub Scouts:

With the help of God, I promise to do my best.

To help other people, to make a good turn everyday

To keep the Brownie / Cub Scout Law.

Guides / Boy Scouts:

On my honour, I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and to my country, to help other people at all times and to keep the Guide/ Scout Law.

 A Scout is a friend of all good-will people and a brother/sister to every other Scout.

 A Scout is courteous.

 A Scout protects nature and all valuable creations of people.

 A Scout obeys his/her parents, principals and leaders.

 A Scout is cheerful and considerate

 A Scout is thrifty.

 A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed.
