Scouting in Saudi Arabia was officially founded in 1961 even though Scouting was active many years prior to the founding date. The association was recognized by the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1963. Membership in 1998 was 54,994 registered Scouts.
The Association seeks to spread Scouting throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of promoting the Scout ideals of courage, self reliance and brotherhood.
The Association participates in most regional and international Scouting activities. They contribute financial assistance quite generously to help Scouting in less fortunate countries.
