SCOUTING IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA

THE SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF PAPAU NEW GUINEA

Scouting was founded in 1926 and recognized by the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1976. Membership in 1998 was 2,599 registered Scouts.

The Scout program requires all members to have a good understanding of their own local customs and traditions as well as those of the other regions.

Program Sections:

 Junior Scouts- ages 8 to 12

 Scouts- ages 12 to 16

 Senior Scouts- ages 16 to 25

Scout Motto:

Scout Oath:

I promise to do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times and to keep the Scout Law.

Scout Law:

 A Scout is to be trusted

 A Scout is loyal

 A Scout is friendly and thinks of others

 A Scout is a brother to all Scouts

 A Scout is cheerful

 A Scout is brave under all difficulties

 A Scout is not wasteful

 A Scout takes care of natural resources

 A Scout helps to develop the community

 A Scout has self respect and respect for others
