Morocco is a former French colony and Scouting was first introduced to Morocco by the French. When independence was gained in 1956, Scouting for the Arab youth came into being. Moroccan Scouting was officially founded in 1958 and recognized by the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1961. Membership in 1998 was 12,304 registered Scouts.
Each of the associations in the federation has a program which includes many community service activities and development projects.
