SCOUTING IN MACEDONIA
SOYUZ NA IZVIDNICI NA MAKEDONIJA
SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF MACEDONIA
![]()
Scouting in Macedonia began about 1921 under the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. As part of the Kingdom, Scouting was recognized by the World Bureau shortly after. As a result of the wars in Yugoslavia and the breakup of the country, Macedonia declared themselves an independent country. Scouting was officially founded in 1993 and a recognized member of the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1997.
Macedonia, its beautiful and rich nature offers opportunities for the young people to develop their self-knowledge, the need to explore, to discover. They can discover the word beyond the classroom, tapping the skills of others. Through recreation, scouting achieves its purpose to help young people develop physically, intellectually. socially and spiritually.
Until 1941, Macedonian youth was organized in Scouts and Falcons, but even in November 1953 the Scout Association of Macedonia was officially founded (at first, as a branch of the Yugoslav Scout Association, and now as an independent, non-political and non – governmental organization of young people). In January 1998, there were 3,500 registered Scouts in Macedonia, assigned in 21 units all over the country.
