SCOUTING IN GUYANA

THE SCOUT ASSOCIATION OF GUYANA

Scouting was officially founded in 1909. In 1967, Guyana was accepted into the World Bureau (WOSM).

Guyana is a small country with less than a million people. There are only 294 registered Scouts as of 1998.

Guyana was developing rapidly until the 1990's. The goal was to be able to feed, cloth and house all its citizens from local resources.

To obtain the highest rank in Guyana, a Scout must pass the normal proficiency tests. In addition, he must be able to obtain badges in agriculture, which prepares each Scout to feed himself from his own produce.
