SCOUTING IN GHANA

THE GHANA SCOUT ASSOCIATION

Scouting was officially founded in 1912. Scouting in Ghana grew and developed and in 1960, Ghana was admitted into the World Bureau (WOSM).

Scouts are involved in many community service projects. Most of these projects take place in rural areas where Scouts organize the people to assist in these projects. Some of these projects are the construction of health centers, schools and clean water.

Scouts are also involved in farming, tree planting and helping to run plants that raise fish.

 Program Sections:

 Cubs- ages 8 to 11

 Scouts- ages 12 to 16

 Venture Scouts- ages 17 to 21

 Rover Scouts- ages 22 to 26

On my honour I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times and to obey the Scout Law.

A Scout's honour is to be trusted

A Scout is loyal

A Scout's duty is to be useful and to help others

A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout

A Scout is courteous

A Scout is a friend to animals

A Scout obeys orders of his parents, patrol leaders or Scoutmaster without question

A Scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties

A Scout is thrifty

A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed
