SCOUTING IN GAMBIA

THE GAMBIA SCOUT ASSOCIATION

Scouting was officially founded in 1921 and was accepted as the 119th member of the World Bureau (WOSM) in 1984.

The Scout Association is open to all young people of all religions and races.

Special activities include community service projects such as tree planting. Scouts regularly participate in camping and hiking.

Program Sections:

 Cubs- ages 8 to 11.5

 Scouts- ages 11.5 to 17.5

 Seniors- ages 17.5 to 25

Scout Oath:

On my honour I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times and to obey the Scout Law.


Scout Law:

A Scout's honour is to be trusted

A Scout is loyal

A Scout's duty is to be useful and to help others

A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout

A Scout is courteous

A Scout is a friend to animals

A Scout obeys orders of his parents, patrol leaders or Scoutmaster without question

A Scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties

A Scout is thrifty

A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed
