SCOUTING IN THE FIJI ISLANDS

FIJI SCOUT ASSOCIATION

Scouting was officially founded in 1914 and membership in the World Bureau was obtained in 1971. Membership in 1998 was 9,205 in all sections.

There are over 100 islands that make up the Fiji Islands. The islands are populated by people of different cultures, origins, customs and creeds.

Scouts are involved in numerous community service projects which assist the government. These include conservation of nature, disaster relief and various other forms of work in the community. After one hurricane, Scouts provided assistance by packing and distributing relief supplies.

Program Sections:

 Cubs- ages 8 to 11

 Scouts- ages 11 to 15

 Venturers- ages 15 to 19

 Rovers- 18 to 25

Rovers- 16 to 20
