SCOUTING IN BURMA

 

Scouting was active in Burma from the early colonial days. Scouting was introduced to Burma by the British Scout Association in 1910 for British dependents. Later, Scouting was opened to the Burmese.

Upon independence, the Burma Scout Association was recognized in 1948 and was active until 1964 when the government outlawed Scouting.

It is uncertain whether Scouting is active as of 1999.

Program Sections:

 Cub Scouts- 7 to 11

 Scouts- 12 to 15

 Rovers- 16 to 20

On my honour I promise that I will do my best, to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people at all times and to obey the Scout Law.

A Scout obeys orders of his parents, patrol leaders or Scoutmaster without question

A Scout is clean in thought, word and deed
