SCOUTING IN AUSTRALIA

SCOUTS ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA

 

Scouting was founded in Australia in 1908 and membership in the World Organization occurred in 1953.

The program emphasis is on adventure activities, camping, bush craft and fun in Scouting. Emphasis is placed on activities that bring direct benefit to the community. Scouts cooperate with civil authorities in the event of disasters.

Water activities form a major part of the program for all Scouts.

Membership is about 150,000 Scouts both male and female.

Program Sections:

 Joeys- ages 6 to 8

 Cub Scouts- ages 8 to 11

 Scouts- ages 11 to 15

 Venturers- ages 15 to 18

 Rovers- ages 18 to 25

Scout Oath:

On my honor, I promise I will do my best, to do my duty to God and to the Queen of Australia, to help other people, and to live by the Scout Law.

Scout Law:

  A Scout is considerate.
