SCOUTING IN ARGENTINA

SCOUTS DE ARGENTINA

SCOUTS OF ARGENTINA

Scouting began in Argentina in 1908, shortly after the publication of, "Scouting For Boys". A Scout patrol of Anglo-Argentine students greeted B.P. on his way to visit Chile in mid 1908. Chile was the second official Scout Association created in the world.

The Scout Association of Argentina was officially founded in 1912 and granted a National Charter in 1917. In 1922, Argentina was one of the founding members of the World Organization (WOSM).

In the late 1930’s, a Catholic Scout Union was created under the sponsorship of the Roman Catholic Church and operated separately until 1996 when both Scout Associations merged to form the Scout Association of Argentina. The official founding of this new Scout Association is 12/2/96.

The new Scout Association has about 50,000 members.
